I could so do porn right now

So Amy and Jeff both asked me if I was going to blog about my bikini wax and I won’t other than to say Parvin’s Spa on East Boulevard is, hands down, the best place I’ve ever been for waxing and I will probably never go anywhere else. In describing it to Amy, I told her, “Let’s put it this way: I could so do porn right now,” which caused her to crack up laughing so I thought I’d share. I really hope that’s not tmi (sorry for any family members reading this.) And if you have any questions you can ask, I am an open book: I’m just not going to lay out all the details right here.

In other news, who knew walking was so good for you? Since I’ve been taking it easy due to my sore ankle (and my hip has been acting up again but I’m just trying to pretend like that isn’t happening), I’ve been walking with Colleen a lot the past few days. She’s an awesome power walker and conversationalist, and it’s nice to actually do an exercise that doesn’t feel like exercise. Last night I walked to her house (8.3 miles), then she and I walked a little more than 2 miles, then we did a stretching video (laugh if you want, but it was challenging and necessary). … And yes, I was sore after 10.5 miles of walking.

Speaking of walking, on one of our walks Colleen and I ended up near the new Cosmo’s Cafe in Ballantyne. Has anyone been here? Is the atmosphere as fun as the Cosmos Uptown? (And, um, they are advertising a $34 burger on their menu. That burger better be freakin awesome!) For those unfamiliar with Charlotte, Uptown is the fun city life and Ballantyne is more … suburbs. And Colleen and I have Uptown taste but for some strange reason live in the suburbs. So we are really hoping the Cosmo’s here is bringing a little Uptown spice down to us.

Got a pedicure with Rebecca (one of my favorite clients) and Colleen on Monday. The nail places around here are throwing specials out left and right, so if you need a pedicure now’s probably a good time. I don’t know if people are cutting back due to the economy woes or if the specials are a response to the plethora of nail salons that have popped up in Ballantyne lately, but either way, we were decently happy with our $20 pedicures and relaxation.

My writing has sucked lately and I need to get back to it. The poetry especially. I am in project wrap-up mode and I am going down the list. Editing my book is on the list, but not quite to the top yet. I am, however, forming an idea for this year’s nanowrimo. Thinking nonfiction memoir-style tales of my family growing up. Life is so short and we need to write this stuff down now before it’s lost forever. Family, I’ll be calling you.

Since you’re probably feeling misled about the headline I’ll leave you with this to hopefully make up for it:

We used to have Cinemax here at the house (part of a package with HBO which we later traded out for Showtime.) Sometimes I’d be watching a movie and fall asleep on the couch and wake up in the middle of the night to some Skinemax on the screen. Woah! Which wouldn’t be a big deal except for our sunroom windows look directly into the living room, right onto the TV. And our neighbor’s kid’s bedroom window looks directly into our sunroom windows.

One day our neighbor casually mentioned that her kid could see our TV from his bedroom. There was absolutely nothing in her voice that conveyed anything about the Cinemax late-nights, but of course that’s immediately what we thought of …

We really need to get curtains for the sunroom.
